The British government announced a new sanctions package targeting 85 individuals and organizations that London linked to Russian actions against Ukraine and overseas information operations.
Some of the measures target people and entities the British government says are involved in the deportation, ideological re-education and militarization of Ukrainian children.
A separate large group of designations targets Russian information campaigns. The sanctions include 49 people working for the Social Design Agency, which Britain says conducts influence operations intended to shape public opinion and political processes abroad.
London also accused Russia of attempting to interfere in upcoming elections in Armenia.
Those descriptions represent the British government’s official position and legal grounds for imposing sanctions, rather than independent findings by Potok.
Britain also announced additional funding for programs intended to identify and return Ukrainian children.
The measures continued a broader European trend of expanding Russia-related sanctions beyond the military-industrial sector and economy to include infrastructure used for political and information operations.
