The nationalist movement Russian Community receives funding through structures linked to pro-Kremlin political analyst Sergei Mikheyev and businessman Igor Khudokormov, according to an investigation by BBC Eye and BBC Russian.
The journalists examined financial records and analyzed the movement’s activities. According to the BBC’s own count, Russian Community took part in more than 900 raids between 2023 and 2025 against migrants and people its members viewed as violating “traditional values.” More than 300 of those raids were conducted jointly with law-enforcement officers, the investigation found.
Representatives of the movement had previously said it was funded by donations from supporters. The findings on additional financing and the scale of joint raids are the result of the BBC’s own investigation.
