Russia said it intends to begin systematic strikes on sites in Kyiv that Moscow classifies as military infrastructure, defense-industry facilities, and “decision-making centers.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov conveyed the message to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Moscow also urged foreigners in Kyiv to take the threat into account and leave areas Russian authorities consider potential targets.
The statement came after a massive Russian strike on Kyiv on May 24.
Russia’s classification of specific sites as military targets is Moscow’s position. Previous strikes on the Ukrainian capital have repeatedly killed civilians and damaged civilian buildings.
