TASS, RIA Novosti, and Interfax have published significantly fewer reports mentioning Vladimir Putin since the beginning of 2026, according to a count by Agentstvo.
The outlet analyzed news-agency posts on Telegram and found that the number of references to the president had fallen by two to three times compared with the previous year.
Putin’s travel has also declined sharply. According to Agentstvo, his break from foreign travel reached 158 days, while the gap between visits to Russian regions exceeded 200 days.
Agentstvo links the decline in the president’s public activity to the period following reports of an attack near his Valdai residence. That causal connection is the outlet’s interpretation and has not been officially confirmed by the Kremlin.
