Russia is conducting a covert campaign aimed at influencing Armenia’s parliamentary election, Reuters reported, citing five Western intelligence and government sources as well as documents reviewed by the agency.
According to Reuters, measures under discussion included disinformation campaigns, support for pro-Russian political forces, and a plan to mobilize tens of thousands of Armenian citizens living in Russia to vote against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
The agency also described the creation of information platforms and websites that, according to its sources, were used to influence public opinion in Armenia.
Russian authorities rejected accusations of interference.
