Russia’s State Duma passed in the second and third readings legislation tightening controls on people and organizations listed as “foreign agents.”
Among other provisions, government bodies, banks, and other financial institutions will be required to provide the Justice Ministry with requested information about “foreign agents’” financial and business activities within three working days.
The package also contains additional restrictions related to advertising and changes some procedures for removal from the register.
At the time of the State Duma vote, the legislation had not yet entered into force and still had to complete the remaining stages of the legislative process.
