Zabaikalye Governor Alexander Osipov declared a regional high-alert regime over a shortage of motor fuel. It took effect at 6 p.m. on June 25.
The measure was introduced under a separate decree, No. 80. A day earlier, Zabaikalye had already declared a high-alert regime for a different reason, related to flooding.
Under the fuel-related decree, authorities were instructed to create a one-month fuel reserve for emergency services and prepare a plan for petroleum product deliveries from China.
Regional authorities and fuel companies were also advised to limit sales to private motorists to 15 liters per day and to dispense fuel only into vehicles’ standard fuel tanks.
The decision came amid a worsening fuel shortage in Russia following a series of Ukrainian strikes on oil refining infrastructure.
