Sergei Aksyonov, the Russian-installed head of Crimea, declared a state of emergency across Russian-annexed Crimea and Sevastopol. It took effect at 1 p.m. on June 26.
The decision came amid continuing problems with electricity and fuel supplies. In the preceding days, the peninsula had faced power restrictions, while sales of motor fuel to the public and businesses had been suspended.
Aksyonov said the state of emergency was primarily needed to resolve economic, contractual, and compensation issues, including matters related to damage recovery.
According to him, the measure does not impose a curfew, restrictions on residents’ movement, or similar emergency controls.
Disruptions to electricity and fuel supplies intensified amid Ukrainian strikes on energy, oil, and transport infrastructure in Crimea and southern Russia.
