United Russia has approved the five candidates who will head the federal section of its party list in the State Duma elections.
The list includes Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, war correspondent Yevgeny Poddubny, Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova, and Yunarmiya head and Ukraine war participant Vladislav Golovin.
United Russia chairman Dmitry Medvedev was not included in the top five.
The presence of Poddubny and Golovin underscores the role of war-related themes in the ruling party’s election campaign.
The federal list was approved at a United Russia congress ahead of elections scheduled for September 2026.
