Russia’s Rodina party filed a lawsuit with the Supreme Court on August 7 seeking to cancel the registration of Yabloko’s federal candidate list for the State Duma election.
The lawsuit alleged that Yabloko had violated election law. Among the claims were the use of campaign materials without permission from copyright holders and questions surrounding campaign financing.
Yabloko rejected the allegations and described the lawsuit as politically motivated.
The party was running under the slogan “For Peace and Freedom” and openly advocated an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The Supreme Court registered the case on August 7 and scheduled a hearing for August 10.
