Russian air strikes on Kyiv and the surrounding region killed 12 people, marking the sixth consecutive day of intensive attacks on the Ukrainian capital and nearby areas.
Eight people were killed in Kyiv, most of them railway workers. Four more died in Boryspil, where a strike hit a residential building and other facilities. An Indian citizen was among those killed outside the capital.
In recent days, Russia has altered its air campaign by using large numbers of drones not only at night but also during daytime hours. Faster jet-powered drones in particular have been used more frequently and are harder to intercept.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha again urged allies to provide additional air-defense systems. Reuters reported that Ukraine was facing a critical shortage of U.S.-made Patriot interceptor missiles needed to defend against Russian ballistic missiles.
