Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Moscow was ready for a new round of trilateral negotiations involving Russia, Ukraine and the United States.
“We have never refused negotiations. And none of the negotiations that have taken place were interrupted at our initiative. So if our colleagues are ready, I think it is entirely possible to resume them,” Lavrov said during an ambassadors’ roundtable on the war in Ukraine.
Three rounds of trilateral talks were held in January and February 2026 — two in Abu Dhabi and one in Geneva. No meetings in that format have taken place since then.
Representatives of Russia and Ukraine had previously indicated that trilateral talks could resume in October. Moscow has described Abu Dhabi as an acceptable venue for a possible meeting.
