Moscow’s Simonovsky District Court began hearing the criminal case against Yabloko activist Elena Perepelitsa on September 29. She was charged with financing extremist activity over donations to Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation, Mediazona reported.
Investigators alleged that between August 2021 and February 2022, Perepelitsa made seven donations of 500 rubles each, totaling 3,500 rubles.
She was charged under Part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Russian Criminal Code. Perepelitsa acknowledged making the transfers but rejected the prosecution’s claim that she knowingly financed extremist activity.
A Russian court designated the Anti-Corruption Foundation and related organizations “extremist” in 2021.
On October 8, the Simonovsky District Court sentenced Perepelitsa to four years in prison. Prosecutors had requested four and a half years.
