Russian authorities plan to spend nearly 60 billion rubles over three years on systems used to filter and block internet resources, Forbes reported after examining an appendix to the draft federal budget.
The funding will go to the Main Radio Frequency Center, an agency subordinate to Roskomnadzor that operates automated systems used to control Russia’s internet infrastructure.
Two years earlier, 32 billion rubles had been planned for the same system over a comparable period.
The filtering infrastructure is also being expanded geographically. Technical equipment allowing Roskomnadzor to filter, throttle and block traffic has not yet been installed at every provider in Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine.
