U.S. President Donald Trump announced an agreement with Vladimir Putin to increase Russian diesel supplies after Washington temporarily eased restrictions.
Trump said Russia would immediately supply more than 300,000 metric tons of diesel to U.S. and global markets, followed by another 500,000 tons in November and then an additional 1 million tons.
Trump also said supplies could later rise to 3 million tons if Russian refining capacity allowed.
The United States temporarily eased restrictions on Russian fuel imposed over the war against Ukraine.
The Trump administration said the decision was intended to reduce high diesel prices. Ukraine and some U.S. politicians argued that the deal would provide Moscow with additional revenue to continue the war.
