U.S. President Donald Trump said Russia and Ukraine had agreed to immediately stop attacking each other’s energy infrastructure.
At the time of his announcement, neither Moscow nor Kyiv had confirmed such an agreement.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was waiting for clarification from Washington. He later said Ukraine was prepared to halt strikes on Russian oil refineries if Russia stopped attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure.
Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure continued after Trump’s announcement.
As of October 11, Trump had therefore announced an agreement that the two parties had not confirmed in the form he described.
