A total of 493 drones flew toward the Moscow region from the evening of October 13 into the morning of October 14, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.
According to Sobyanin, most of the drones were neutralized at longer range, while another 180 were destroyed as they approached Moscow. The number of drones launched and destroyed cannot be independently verified.
Russia’s aviation authority Rosaviatsiya imposed temporary restrictions on arrivals and departures at all four airports serving the Moscow aviation hub — Sheremetyevo, Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky.
The investigative outlet Agentstvo, which analyzed Rosaviatsiya’s notices, calculated that all four airports simultaneously stopped handling flights for seven hours. According to the outlet, this was the longest simultaneous shutdown of the Moscow aviation hub since at least the beginning of 2026.
Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky were affected by restrictions for eight hours and 39 minutes, while Sheremetyevo was restricted for seven hours. Citing data from the Airports.ru aggregator, Agentstvo reported that as of 10:12 a.m., 238 flights were delayed across the four airports and another 124 had been canceled.
