St. Petersburg authorities have reduced the regional one-time payment for most new contract servicemen from 3.5 million rubles to 1 million rubles.
The new figures appeared on the city’s website for military contract recruitment.
The higher regional payment of 3.5 million rubles remains available for contracts to serve in unmanned systems units.
A separate federal payment of 400,000 rubles is also available.
This means that, excluding other possible bonuses, the regional payment itself has been reduced by a factor of 3.5 for most new contract recruits.
St. Petersburg previously also operated a scheme providing an additional 600,000-ruble payment through preliminary employment at a city-owned state enterprise. That additional payment is not listed under the new payment structure.
