Political scientist Alexander Kynev said that after being transferred to Moscow’s Pretrial Detention Center No. 4, known as Medved, he was not being given crutches despite having an injured leg.
Kynev described the situation in a letter to journalist Gleb Yarovoy.
According to Kynev, his leg remains in a cast and he cannot walk without crutches.
The Telegram channel Slovo Zashchity previously reported that Kynev had allegedly suffered two tibia fractures during his arrest. His lawyer, Mikhail Biryukov, said at the time that he could neither confirm nor deny that information.
The circumstances in which Kynev sustained the injury therefore remain independently unestablished.
Kynev is charged under Paragraph “g” of Part 4 of Article 228.1 of Russia’s Criminal Code, which concerns large-scale illegal drug trafficking. He has pleaded not guilty.
