The Central District Military Court sentenced two minors from Russia's Tyumen region to eight and nine years in a juvenile correctional facility over the arson of railway equipment in Tobolsk.
Dmitry Kayugin and Kirill Palyanov were convicted of committing a terrorist act as a group that caused significant property damage, under paragraphs “a” and “v” of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Russian Criminal Code.
According to investigators, the teenagers set fire to a railcar and a snow-removal vehicle at Tobolsk station in December 2024 after receiving instructions from an unidentified person.
The damage was estimated at 265,000 rubles. Russia's Investigative Committee said the teenagers received 52,000 rubles for carrying out the arson, and the court ordered that amount confiscated.
The verdict was issued on October 14, but the transport prosecutor's office and Investigative Committee announced it on October 16.
