Ukraine is discussing with European partners the creation of a separate European channel for dialogue with Russia aimed at a diplomatic settlement of the war, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a press briefing in Brussels.
According to Zelenskyy, European countries are taking steps toward creating their own negotiating format that would also represent Ukraine’s interests.
He said such a channel would not rule out other negotiation processes and that several diplomatic tracks could operate in parallel, including one involving the United States.
Zelenskyy did not say which countries could participate in the new format or when it might begin operating.
The discussions therefore concern the creation of such a mechanism rather than an already functioning European channel of communication with Moscow.
