Russia launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine overnight on October 17 using drones and missiles, causing further disruptions to the country's energy infrastructure.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russian forces launched 332 drones of various types, along with Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, Kh-22/32 missiles and four Kalibr cruise missiles.
The Ukrainian military said it destroyed or suppressed 293 aerial targets, including all four Kalibr missiles and 289 drones of various types. The Air Force said impacts were recorded at 22 locations. These claims have not been independently verified.
In the Zhytomyr region, the local energy company said hundreds of thousands of customers lost electricity following a Russian strike on energy infrastructure.
