A 19-year-old woman named Yana was detained in Moscow on October 16 after Federal Protective Service officers noticed her pin bearing the words “This Will Definitely Pass,” according to a statement by the “For Yekaterina Duntsova” initiative. The group published its account on October 18 and said it had contacted the woman.
According to the initiative’s account, Yana was stopped on Red Square and then taken to the Kitay-Gorod and Arbat police stations. The group alleges that law enforcement officers searched her phone and subjected her to psychological pressure. Its statement also mentions officers from Center E.
The group claims that the woman was asked to sign a contract and consent to a search. According to the activists, she refused to sign documents without a lawyer present, and no copies of official reports were given to her.
Mediazona and Novaya Gazeta Europe also reported the incident, but both publications relied on the same original statement from the Duntsova initiative. At the time of those reports, there was no independent confirmation of the alleged police actions or information that administrative or criminal proceedings had been opened.
