Russian businesses are prepared to help finance the development and production of new air defense systems to protect industrial facilities from drone attacks, Alexander Shokhin, head of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), said in an interview with TASS on October 18.
According to Shokhin, companies are willing to pool resources to improve the security of industrial sites, but the government should introduce economic incentives for such investment.
He proposed an investment tax deduction as one possible mechanism, allowing companies to reduce certain tax payments through qualifying capital expenditure.
The RSPP chief emphasized that developing and installing new protective systems would require substantial investment.
He also said businesses would continue to need protection even if an agreement to settle the war in Ukraine were reached.
The proposal comes amid continuing drone attacks on Russian oil refineries, fuel depots, industrial plants and logistics facilities.
For now, it remains a proposal from business representatives. No unified fund, approved government program or specific financing agreements for new air defense systems have been announced.
