Russia's Central District Military Court has sentenced a 19-year-old woman from Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan, to four years in a general-regime penal colony after finding her guilty of preparing a terrorist attack against an industrial facility.
Bashkortostan's Investigative Committee announced the verdict on October 19. Mediazona also reported the case.
The woman was convicted under Part 1 of Article 30 and Part 1 of Article 205 of Russia's Criminal Code, which together cover preparation to commit a terrorist act.
According to investigators, between March and July 2024, she intended to organize an explosion and arson attack at an unidentified industrial facility in Sterlitamak.
The Investigative Committee alleges that she studied prohibited materials about manufacturing explosives and examined the intended attack site.
The Federal Security Service, or FSB, also claimed that she had purchased components for an explosive device through an online store.
The woman was a minor at the time of the acts that investigators characterized as preparations for the attack.
Law enforcement agencies did not specify when she was detained. The published reports also provided no details of the defense's position or how the court assessed the evidence.
The circumstances of the alleged plot are known primarily from statements by investigative authorities. Not all elements of the allegations have been independently corroborated.
