A fire broke out at an industrial facility in Russia's Tambov region overnight on October 20 following a drone attack. Regional Governor Yevgeny Pervyshov said the incident occurred in the Michurinsk municipal district and that no injuries had been reported.
Russian authorities did not identify the affected enterprise or specify the extent of any damage.
The independent outlet ASTRA examined a video recorded by a witness and suggested that the fire occurred at the Nikolskoye-1 oil pumping and dispatch station near the village of Novonikolskoye. The Ukrainian monitoring project Exilenova+ circulated a similar assessment.
The Nikolskoye station is part of the Druzhba oil pipeline network, through which Russian oil is transported to destinations including Central European countries. The facility is used to receive, store and pump oil and petroleum products.
The identification of the location is based on an analysis of published videos. There was no independent official confirmation at the time that this particular station had been hit.
The extent of any damage to oil transport equipment and the potential consequences for oil deliveries were also unknown.
According to Pervyshov, four drones were shot down over Tambov region during the night and morning of October 20. He did not specify which facilities they had targeted.
The Nikolskoye pumping and dispatch station had previously been targeted by Ukrainian drones in 2025.
The incident came amid continuing Ukrainian drone strikes against Russian oil and energy infrastructure. However, the outcome of this particular operation requires separate verification and cannot be established from the reported fire alone.
