The container ship CONTSHIP JET sank off the Bulgarian coast on October 29, a day after being damaged in a maritime drone attack in the Black Sea.
The Liberian-flagged ship was operated by a Greek company. Its crew comprised 18 people — 14 Filipinos and four Ukrainians. All were rescued, and no deaths were reported.
Bulgarian authorities confirmed the sinking and said there were initially no visible signs of water pollution. The cargo included containers holding lithium-ion batteries, corrosive substances and other hazardous materials. Reuters examined footage of the attack but could not reliably identify those responsible.
