Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov plans to attend a meeting of Group of Twenty foreign ministers in Atlanta on October 30–31, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on October 28.
According to Zakharova, most organisational issues, including US visas for the Russian delegation, were resolved only shortly before the meeting. She said Moscow intended to discuss reform of global economic institutions and the international economic agenda.
The G20 brings together the world's major economies and serves as a forum for discussion of international economic and political issues. Russian participation comes amid sanctions and continuing disagreements between Western governments and Moscow over the war against Ukraine.
