A fire may have broken out on the grounds of an oil refinery in Novokuybyshevsk, in Russia's Samara region, following an overnight drone attack on October 30. Journalists reached that conclusion after comparing witness footage published online with the layout of the facility. Regional authorities confirmed an attack on the Samara region but did not separately report that the refinery had been hit.
An Astra analyst located the apparent fire using landmarks visible in witness images. The refinery is part of Rosneft and produces jet fuel, including for military aviation. The images do not establish how extensively the facility was damaged.
