Rosatom chief Alexei Likhachev said on October 30 that the Russian state nuclear corporation was in talks over major land-based nuclear power plant projects with Uganda, Ghana, Ethiopia and Egypt. Reuters and Interfax reported his remarks. The discussions do not mean that contracts for new plants have been signed.
Separately, the corporation is discussing floating nuclear power units with Egypt, Tanzania, Togo and Namibia. Likhachev named those countries separately from the potential partners for large land-based plants.
Rosatom is already building four units at Egypt's El Dabaa nuclear power plant and discussing a possible expansion to six units.
