Russia's Investigative Committee in the Rostov region announced on October 29 that it had opened a criminal case against a 71-year-old woman from the Neklinovsky district on charges of financing terrorism. Investigators allege she transferred more than 50,000 rubles to Artpodgotovka, a movement designated as terrorist and banned by Russian authorities.
The Investigative Committee did not name the accused woman. The outlet Bloknot Taganrog reported her surname as Sumbarova; after examining the available information, Mediazona suggested she could be 71-year-old Yelena Sumbarova. Her full identity remains a tentative finding by journalists, not a fact officially confirmed by investigators.
Artpodgotovka is associated with opposition politician Vyacheslav Maltsev. Terrorism-financing cases involving transfers to people connected with the movement have also been brought in other Russian regions.
