On October 30, Russia's Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression, people in several cities read aloud the names of those killed and laid flowers at memorial sites. At the Butovo firing range outside Moscow, participants in the "Voice of Memory" event read the names of people executed during the Great Terror, Novaya Gazeta Europe reported, citing SOTAvision correspondents.
Commemorations also took place at the Levashovo cemetery in St. Petersburg. Reports of local events came from Novosibirsk and Rostov-on-Don.
