The Investigative Committee in Russia's Leningrad region announced on October 29 that a Sosnovy Bor resident had been charged with financing terrorism. Investigators allege that he transferred a total of 10,000 rubles to someone linked to an organization banned in Russia. A court ordered that the man be held in pretrial detention.
Investigators date the two transfers to June 12, 2023, and have classified the alleged conduct under Article 205.1, Part 1.1, of Russia's Criminal Code. The Investigative Committee did not identify the organization in its statement.
According to 47news, the recipient of the transfers was linked to Vyacheslav Maltsev's Artpodgotovka movement, which Russia has designated a terrorist organization. More than three years passed between the alleged transfers and the filing of charges.
