The fourth and final plane carrying residents evacuated from Russian-occupied Oleshky in Ukraine's Kherson region landed in Gomel, Belarus, on October 31 as part of a humanitarian operation. David Arakhamia, a member of Ukraine's negotiating team, announced its arrival. Belarusian state news agency BelTA had earlier reported that the first three aircraft had landed.
BelTA subsequently reported that buses carrying the evacuees had left Gomel airport for the Ukrainian border. Arakhamia expected them to reach Ukrainian-controlled territory shortly; they had not yet crossed the border at the time of his statement.
The evacuation route ran from Oleshky through Crimea to the Russian city of Anapa, where the residents boarded flights to Belarus. The operation followed an agreement on a temporary ceasefire in the area around Oleshky.
Rodion Miroshnik, a Russian Foreign Ministry ambassador-at-large, accused Ukrainian forces of attacking a civilian vehicle with a drone as it left Oleshky, citing local officials appointed by Russia. He claimed that two people were injured. The circumstances of the alleged attack have not been independently corroborated, and Ukraine had not commented on the allegation at the time.
