Alexander Bastrykin, chairman of Russia's Investigative Committee, changed the procedure for approving appointments of aides and senior aides to heads of regional investigative bodies responsible for public and political affairs. The new requirement for candidates to be cleared by a specialized department at the committee's central office appears in an order published on Russia's official legal information portal.
The order was signed on September 21, 2026, and published on October 30. The requirement does not apply to military investigative bodies. The document also provides for renaming the department for educational work as the department for public and political affairs.
