An open archive of Novaya Gazeta articles has been published on GitHub. The repository's creators say it preserves 93,933 articles dating from 2000 to 2026.
The archive consists of individual text files containing headlines, publication dates, bylines and links to the original articles. The public repository also provides tools for collecting and processing the material.
The project's creators put the total volume of text at 1.08 gigabytes. They say the articles are stored in Markdown format without photographs or video. It is a text archive, not a complete reproduction of the former website and its multimedia content.
The README says the Moscow-based Novaya Gazeta's servers are scheduled to be shut down on November 9. The Moscow editorial office announced on October 30 that it was ceasing operations.
