Moscow's Tverskoy District Court fined political scientist Ekaterina Schulmann 40,000 rubles on November 2 under Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of Russia's Administrative Offenses Code, which penalizes “discrediting” the Russian armed forces. The Moscow courts' press service announced the decision.
The court's press service did not specify which post or statement had prompted the proceedings against Schulmann.
Russian authorities had previously added Schulmann to the register of “foreign agents” and to the list maintained by the Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring). In March 2026, a Russian court also sentenced her in absentia to one year in prison in a case concerning compliance with the country’s “foreign agent” rules.
