Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said on November 2 that it had discovered parcels containing goggles for FPV drone operators that, according to the agency, had been fitted with explosive devices. The FSB also alleged that Ukrainian intelligence services were behind the shipments.
The agency said it first found such a parcel in the Volgograd region and subsequently intercepted other shipments intended for Russian military personnel. According to the FSB, the devices were designed to detonate when the goggles were switched on.
The FSB also announced that a criminal case had been opened under provisions concerning illegal trafficking in explosives and attempted terrorism. The agency released video purportedly showing the devices being defused, but the circumstances depicted have not been independently established.
