Polish police are conducting a preventive security operation in the Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie voivodeships in the country’s northeast. National police chief Marek Boroń told RMF24 that a command center had been established at police headquarters.
Boroń said Polish military intelligence and allied services warned last week of possible sabotage near the border with Russia’s Kaliningrad region, including the risk of armed groups crossing the border.
Police, military personnel, the Border Guard, intelligence services and counterterrorism units are participating. Boroń said additional police personnel had been deployed to protect people and facilities in the border area.
