Russia's Finance Ministry has drafted legislation that would automatically transfer frozen pension savings into a long-term savings program.
The proposed mechanism would affect not only customers of non-state pension funds but also people whose pension savings are managed by the state management company because they did not choose another option. April 1, 2027, has been mentioned as a possible start date for the new rules.
Reports on the initiative put the total value of the savings concerned at around 6.6 trillion rubles. The change remains a legislative proposal, not a rule in force; automatic transfers under the proposed system have not been approved.
