The wife of Crimean Tatar activist Tofik Abdulghaziyev, recently released from a Russian penal colony, has described health problems he has experienced since returning home. Aliye Abdulghaziyeva said he has suffered dizziness and breathing difficulties and fainted on one occasion.
She also alleged that a medical worker who reviewed his paperwork noticed that insulin supplied to him at a prison hospital had expired.
Aliye Abdulghaziyeva said the family also struggled to obtain a new insulin prescription after his release. She was told he would need to consult a general practitioner and an endocrinologist.
A court in Chelyabinsk ordered Abdulghaziyev released on medical grounds on October 26.
