Ukraine's State Emergency Service reported 24 deaths following a strike on Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhzhia region on November 2. The updated toll was reported by the Associated Press, citing the agency. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had earlier reported 18 people killed and five injured.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian aircraft first struck a school where local residents were receiving humanitarian aid, then dropped nine more guided aerial bombs on a nearby shelter. He said a total of ten aerial bombs were used in the area of the attack.
By the evening, local authorities were reporting approximately 20 people missing. Rescue workers continued searching the rubble. According to Ukrainian military official Mykhailo Semikin, further Russian drone attacks hampered the rescue effort.
