Sergei Aksyonov, the Russian-appointed head of occupied Crimea, announced an extension of school holidays on the peninsula amid electricity disruptions. He said pupils were expected to return to classes on November 9, 2026. The report was published on November 4.
Aksyonov said local administrations should set kindergarten operating schedules themselves. The extension of school holidays does not automatically apply to kindergartens.
School holidays had already been extended in Sevastopol because of electricity restrictions. Russia’s Energy Ministry attributed the outages in Crimea and Sevastopol to Ukrainian strikes and reported emergency repairs. It said socially important facilities had been switched to backup power supplies.
