Authorities in the Kuraginsky municipal district of Russia's Krasnoyarsk region declared a state of emergency on November 4 after prolonged power outages caused by snowfall and damage to power lines. Regional officials said some communities had been without electricity for several days.
According to an operational report from the regional Emergency Situations Ministry, a renewed outage affecting six settlements was reported at 6:30 a.m. on November 3. Power had been restored to one of them by 6:01 p.m. and another by 11:08 p.m. Four settlements remained without electricity at that point.
The ministry said three temporary accommodation centers, with a combined capacity of 1,490 people, were ready to receive residents. The figure represents available places, not the number of people actually evacuated.
Residents told NGS24 that the lack of electricity had disrupted mobile service and caused water to freeze, while some families borrowed generators. Interviewees said outages in some locations had lasted for days.
Rosseti Siberia said repair crews were working to restore the lines, with fallen trees obstructing access and repairs.
