Former air defense company commander Mikhail Martynov received a combined sentence of eight years and six months in a strict-regime penal colony in bribery and fraud cases. Details of the three proceedings emerged publicly on November 3, although the latest verdict had been issued in August 2026.
The Odintsovo Garrison Military Court convicted Martynov on four counts of accepting large bribes and on fraud charges. He was stripped of his captain’s rank and barred from holding certain senior government posts for five years. According to separate reporting by Mediazona, two other defendants, Roman Zamikov and Maksim Ptyushkin, each received sentences of seven years and three months in prison.
Investigators said four mobilized servicemen each paid officers 150,000 rubles to remain with an air defense unit near Moscow instead of being sent to fight in the war. In the most recent case, the defendants admitted guilt but declined to testify against themselves, invoking Article 51 of the Russian Constitution.
Another case concerned the theft of a diesel generator worth 126,000 rubles and other equipment supplied to the military. Investigators found advertisements offering the property for sale on accounts belonging to Martynov and his wife. Court records put the losses at 521,862 rubles. Martynov denied guilt in those proceedings.
In 2025, earlier cases had resulted in fines of 550,000 rubles for bribes related to retraining on Pantsir air defense systems and 850,000 rubles for the theft of equipment.
