The St. Petersburg City Court has suspended criminal proceedings against Albert Morgan, who is accused of killing his former girlfriend in Dubai, after he signed a contract with Russia's Defence Ministry. The court also revoked the pretrial measure imposed on him and ordered his immediate transfer to the ministry, the city's court press service said on November 3.
The decision followed a request from the head of a military recruitment office. Suspending proceedings does not amount to an acquittal or a dismissal of the criminal case on its merits. Morgan faces charges of systematic abuse, threatening to kill and murder with particular cruelty. No verdict has been delivered on those charges.
The case concerns the death of Anastasia, a 25-year-old flight attendant whose body was found in a Dubai hotel in December 2025. According to reporting by Fontanka, she had left Russia after alleged harassment by her former partner. Investigators allege that Morgan followed her to the United Arab Emirates and attacked her with scissors.
