A support group for paediatrician Nadezhda Buyanova has reported deteriorating health among Buyanova and nurse Olga Menshikh, who are held at Penal Colony No. 3 in Russia's Kostroma region. SOTAvision published the group's account on November 5.
Activists say Menshikh has a severe cough and back pain. The group also says she faces possible confinement in a punishment cell following a visit, after disciplinary reports were filed against her. Menshikh has reportedly been moved to another unit and had some personal belongings confiscated.
Buyanova and Menshikh were convicted in separate cases involving the dissemination of information about the Russian military that the authorities deemed false. The support group says imprisoned women are being separated when assigned to prison units.
