The Leningradsky District Court in Kaliningrad ordered two serving police officers held in pretrial detention on fraud charges linked to military enlistment contracts. The detention orders run through January 1, 2027, and had not entered into legal force at the time of the report.
Investigators allege that the head of a criminal investigation unit persuaded an acquaintance to sign a contract with Russia's Defense Ministry, then promised for 100,000 rubles to help him remain on duty in the Kaliningrad region instead of being sent to a combat zone. The two officers are alleged to have divided that payment equally, taking 50,000 rubles each from money paid to the recruit.
In a second alleged incident, investigators say one officer obtained another 100,000 rubles from a different acquaintance for a similar promise. The case has been brought under Part 3 of Article 159 of Russia's Criminal Code. The detention orders do not establish the officers' guilt or prove that they could actually influence where service members were assigned.
