Both sons of former Israeli defense minister Avigdor Lieberman held stakes in a Moscow company that did business from 2021 with a contractor serving facilities of Russia's Defense Ministry. The connection was identified through corporate records in an investigation published on November 4. Some of the contracts are being examined in a corruption case involving Patriot Park, but the ownership records alone do not implicate the brothers in the alleged offenses.
According to the registry information examined by journalists, Amos Mordechai Lieberman and his brother Yaakov David Lieberman, known as Kobi, each owned 50% of Lamed A.K. Holdings Russia Ltd. The company was registered in Moscow on January 24, 2019. Both brothers ceased to be shareholders on April 12, 2023, when Pavel Kurilenko, who had previously managed the firm, became its sole owner. It was renamed Velltov in April 2025.
The company's contractual counterparty was Hermes, a firm involved in maintaining Russian Defense Ministry facilities. Hermes initially obtained work through general contractor UK BSM, but, according to the journalists' findings, became a direct contractor in 2026. The sites linked to its operations included facilities in Moscow and Kronstadt, among them the Russian Navy's main cathedral.
According to Fontanka's reporting, based on testimony from a businessman questioned in the case, investigators are examining whether the contracts were used to channel payments in exchange for assistance in securing Defense Ministry work. Investigators suspect that some contracted services were never performed and that the money was transferred abroad. Fontanka estimated the total value of the contracts at around 200 million rubles. The contracts and payment records themselves have not been published.
Hermes chief executive Yevgeny Mariyev and former Patriot Park director Igor Vasilyev were placed under house arrest in October 2026 in a bribery case.
