The Russian government has transferred Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University (RNRMU) from the Health Ministry to the Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA). Government Order No. 3180-r was signed on November 3; the university and FMBA announced the decision on November 5.
FMBA describes the move as an expansion of existing cooperation. According to the agency, university departments operate at 12 of its research centres, and the organisations have jointly established 36 departments. Areas of collaboration include immunomedicine, gene therapy, medical biophysics and neurotechnology.
The government order provides for the university's founding documents to be amended through the prescribed procedures. FMBA says the transfer is intended to help create integrated research and educational infrastructure.
